The School System

As young children, we eagerly and enthusiastically approach kindergarten. We bring a very flexible learning profile to the beginning of our formal education. We have been doing very well as visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners.

Kindergarten is frequently an extension of preschool programs or the learning that takes place in the home. There's a lot of exploring, movement and activity in kindergarten. The teacher replaces the parent as a disciplinarian and a reader of books.

However, as we progress through elementary school, the flexibility and informality of the kindergarten classroom, which complements the child's learning profile, gives way to a more formal, structured environment. Frequently, by about the fifth or sixth grade, a new word is heard to describe the learning environment -- "boring"!
