Writing Notes to Others

Writing notes (or letters) to someone is typically a slow, methodical process. You have the luxury of time to compose your thoughts and select the right words to use. Generally, your attention and concentration are on one matter -- placing words on paper to convey a message to someone. Since the other party has to be able to read your letter, you're probably being as neat and precise as you can in terms of spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Taking notes based on reading material also provides you with the luxury of time. You can read at your own pace. You can be neat. You can write very legibly.
